Ceremony
2012, oil on canvas, 137 x 87 cm
The painted works in this exhibition illustrate a protagonist's journey. The works refer to myths and storytelling to portray the psychological struggle of the human condition. I presented these painted works as the start of a discussion and I encourage personal interpretation. The meaning is determined by the individual and thier own history of faith, storytelling, social norms, prejudice, scientific observation, and environmental connection. notes from the catalogue: From the sacrum to my throat crows pull thin strands stretching to surrender. The song call is clear. Released from my old skin suffocating, I had stayed too long I missed the ceremony. What had been known was lost. Yet it found me in the darkest of places. The embers of ceremonial fire breathed life. I passed through and it began.
